Stop Spinning, Start Getting Ish Done

Ever had one of those days where you’ve been “busy” nonstop, but your to-do list looks even longer than when you started? Yeah… we’ve all been there.

Here’s the thing: passion and hustle aren’t the problem. Most entrepreneurs I know care deeply about their work, have more ideas than they know what to do with, and can outlast a double espresso without blinking. The problem is that busyness doesn’t always equal progress.

It’s easy to scatter your focus—jumping between tasks, chasing shiny ideas, and ending the day wondering what actually moved the needle.

So how do you break the cycle?

Start by getting crystal clear about what you actually want. Not “someday” clear. I’m talking measurable, specific clear. For example:

  • Add $30K in revenue this year
  • Land 10 new monthly retainer clients
  • Hand off 10 hours a week to an assistant

When you know your goal, build a plan that points you directly toward it. If you want more revenue, decide exactly how you’ll get there—raising rates, showing up more on LinkedIn, networking with purpose, or running a consistent newsletter. Then, stick with it.

And yes, you’ll need a system to track it all. No one can just “remember” their way to success. Use a spreadsheet, Trello board, or even sticky notes on the wall—whatever helps you see progress and spot gaps before they become problems.

You’ll also need to practice saying no. Not every request deserves your time, and not every “brilliant idea” is worth chasing right now. If it doesn’t connect to your current goal, it can wait.

And finally—plan in quiet, not in chaos. Step away from email, turn off notifications, and give yourself space to map things out. Then revisit your plan regularly to keep it sharp.

Do this, and you’ll stop spinning your wheels, start making real progress, and feel a whole lot better about the business you’re building.
