Amanda Johnson, MBA - Project Management, MS - IT Management - Operations & Systems Strategist based in Uruguay

I Build the Backend So You Can Focus on the Front

I’ve been a square peg trying to fit in the round corporate world for 30+ years. Now, I’m focused on solopreneurs and small business owners.

You’re brilliant at what you do. But somewhere between client work, admin, and tech headaches, your business started running you. That’s where I come in.

I’m Amanda Johnson, an Operations & Systems Strategist who designs the infrastructure that lets your business breathe.

Learn More About Me

Amanda Johnson is an Operations & Systems Strategist with 30+ years of experience transforming overwhelm into order across healthcare, technology, and small business operations.

Before launching Getting Ish Done Now, I led initiatives that freed teams to focus on what mattered most:

  • Small Business Digital Transformations – Strategy, systems setup, and operational support to modernize operations
  • Virtual Event Transitions (COVID Era) – Cut costs 50% while keeping teams connected
  • EHR Oncology Module Rollout – Improved adoption and workflow for clinical staff
  • Multi-Campus Scheduling System – Reduced patient wait times, improved operational efficiency

What sets me apart: Most virtual assistants focus on execution. I focus on the layer underneath—designing the systems, workflows, and structure so everything runs more smoothly.

I blend proven project management methods with practical, people-focused problem solving. I leverage smart automation where it fits and bring human clarity where it’s needed most.

At my core, I’m driven by integrity, trust, and the belief that structure, done well, sets people free. I build systems that honor energy, not just calendars. Systems that save time, stay organized, and work logically—but a human will always need to participate. That’s the point.

Square Peg, Round Hole

For 30+ years, I tried to make it work inside systems that weren’t built for me.

Open offices. Fluorescent lights. Constant noise. Back-to-back meetings that could have been emails. Pressure to perform in environments that drained me before lunch.

Sound familiar? Maybe not the exact details, but that feeling of forcing yourself into a structure that doesn’t fit how you actually work?

The Breaking Point

A few years ago, I moved to a new country for a fresh start. I took an office job to get settled, hoping a new place might mean a new experience.

It didn’t.

The environment overwhelmed me the same way it always had. Then I was mugged while waiting at a bus stop after work. The experience left me shaken, and I went on medical leave.

When I came back and asked for help feeling safe during my commute, my peer-level colleagues cared, but leadership didn’t. The company let me go at the first opportunity.

That was the moment I stopped blaming myself.

The Lightbulb

Shortly after, I received my autism diagnosis. And for the first time, my entire life made sense.

The way I process the world. The way I think. The way I’ve always needed things structured and logical. The burnout that never had a good explanation. The feeling of being out of step with everyone around me.

I wasn’t broken. I had been spending 30 years trying to fit into a world that wasn’t designed for how I’m wired.

I told myself something that changed everything:

“I deserve a work life that protects me.”

And then I thought: so does everyone else.

Why This Matters for You

You don’t have to be neurodivergent to know what it feels like to work inside a system that doesn’t fit.

Every solopreneur and small business owner I work with is dealing with some version of this:

  • Processes that make things harder, not easier
  • Tools that create more work than they save
  • Structures borrowed from corporate playbooks never designed for a team of one

I know what it feels like to push through a broken system because you think the problem is you.

It’s not. It’s the system.

What I Bring

I see patterns in chaos. I create structure naturally. I simplify what overwhelms others. I bring calm to complexity.

These aren’t skills I learned in a course. They’re how my brain works.

After 30+ years applying them in healthcare IT, project management, and operations, I now bring all of it to solopreneurs and small business owners who deserve systems built around how they actually work.

Why I Started Getting Ish Done Now

I started as a virtual assistant. And there’s nothing wrong with that. VAs do important, valuable work.

But as I got deeper into the work, I realized the VA label didn’t capture what I was doing. I wasn’t just supporting the day-to-day. I was digging into how businesses operate, finding where things were breaking down, and building the systems to fix it.

Operations and Systems Strategist is what I really am. It’s what I’ve always been.

Once I stopped trying to fit into a label that wasn’t mine, everything clicked. Just like it did when I got my diagnosis.

I built this business the same way I build everything for my clients: around what actually works, not what’s expected.

When you work with me, you get:

✔ Systems that fit how you actually work (not cookie-cutter templates)
✔ Time back in your week (most clients reclaim 15-25 hours)
✔ Strategic thinking, not just task execution
✔ Technology that works together (audited, streamlined, integrated)
✔ A business that feels manageable again

Clients often describe me as “a calm in the storm” and “a force multiplier” who makes progress possible.
